Last weekend, two of Shadwell’s homebred Arabian champions travelled to Turkey and represented HH Sheikh Hamdan in prestigious Group races.

On Saturday, HANDASSA, 7yo son of Shadwell Arabian stallion MADJANI, was defending his crown in the International IFAHR Trophy, a Group 2 PA contest over 2100 m. He had previously won that race twice, in 2015 and 2016. Ridden by François-Xavier Bertras, he took the lead after the last turn and fought back every attack to win for a historical third time.

On Sunday, MURAAQIB and François-Xavier Bertras ran to victory in the Group 1 PA race International Malazgirt Trophy over a mile and won by a comfortable margin. It is the fifth Group 1 PA win for the five-year-old colt.

Both horses are trained in France by François Rohaut, as is AJAAYIB, the three-year-old half-sister to MURAAQIB who broke her maiden at Craon on Saturday.

Congratulations to all connections!
